Reupholstery

I take what I believe are interesting or valuable pieces of furniture and reupholster them up to a certain point—like a blank canvas.

These pieces could be purchased as-is, if you are interested in securing a unique piece or finishing the upholstery yourself.

And of course, I also offer the service to finish the upholstery and guide you through the process of sourcing the right material.

The Standard

My standard for these pieces includes a complete replacement of foam, fill, any natural materials used for suspension, and any failing hardware.

I generally allow the wood to develop character with use, and will re-stain sparingly to bring its condition up to a like-new state.

And because I upholster each piece up to a kind of foundation, you can rest assured that these pieces are meant to be recovered easily if desired.

Material Guidance

The reason I choose not to finish these pieces is that I believe they ought to serve as the interface between the human and the space.

While things like type, colour, cost, availability are certainly factors, I place most importance on fitment and attraction.

I believe this approach leads to something timeless, enduring, and personally valuable.
